Try half.com at eBay. I have had great luck finding cheap books and selling mine for more than the bookstore will give at buyback time.

The problem with this is that text may not be announced until class has started or students do not know until they are on campus what book is needed. By far the beter way is to visit the college bookstore and find a recycled book.

Kate-- that's true. Soemtimes students don't know what books they need. But if they are on campus the semester before, students can ask the professor. Professors are supposed to have book selected for classes months in advance. Students can also stop by the professor's department office, because the secretaries usually order the books and will have that information.

This is my article about buying cheap textbooks:

Just a note to anyone seaching for used textbooks outside of their college bookstore: carefully check the edition number. I discovered this the hard way when I purchased a used textbook that was one edition too old for my class a few years ago. It would not have been a big deal but there were noticable differences in case studies so I was forced to purchase the textbook again from the school store. happy
