Looking for some good date movies? Here are some fun and romantic suggestions for good date movies that are geared towards college students and young people. Whether you're looking for a first date movie, a Valentine's Day date movie, or just a romantic night out or in front of the television with your college sweetheart, here some good date movie suggestions. And none of these are "chick flicks" either.
Threesome (1994). A sexy and sweet coming-of-age story about three college students-- one female (Lara Flynn Boyle) and two males (Stephen Baldwin and Josh Charles)--who become college roommates due to a bureaucratic error. Close friendships and multiple combinations of lust follow.
Good Will Hunting (1997). A college student fairy tale. Working class, abused, and incredibly brilliant Will Hunting (Matt Damon) works as a janitor at MIT and secretly solves a math professor's impossible problems when no one is looking. With help from his best friend (Ben Affleck) and psychologist (Robin Williams) he overcomes his past and falls in love with a brilliant Harvard student (Minnie Driver).
Clerks II (2006). Who knew the sequel to Kevin Smith's Clerks could be so gosh darned sweet? Don't worry if you haven't seen the first (which is funny but not sweet); it'll still make sense. Not much has changed for best buddies Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Anderson), who are still working menial jobs, this time at a fast food restaurant since their convenience store burned down. Even Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith) are still hanging around. Dante's about to get married, but the sparks are flying between him and the store manager (Rosario Dawson). The ending ties things up in a surprisingly sweet way.
All Over the Guy (2001). An adorable gay romantic comedy and a very sweet date movie. A straight man (Adam Goldberg) and woman (Sasha Alexander) do everything they can to pair up their gay best friends (Richard Ruccolo and Dan Bucatinsky), who seem determined to not pair up despite the fact they're perfect for each other. Meanwhile, the straight couple falls in love and waits for their friends to catch up.
The Graduate (1967). A legendary college film (well, a recent graduate film) that both speaks volumes about its time and is timeless. Ben Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) just graduated from college and doesn't want to do much but float in the pool and contemplate how plastic his parents' upper-class expectations are. In the meantime, he is seduced by a friend of his parents named Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft), which goes okay until he falls in love with Mrs. Robinson's daughter (Katharine Ross).
The Rules of Attraction (2002). This fabulous college movie is very dark and not suitable for a first date (unless you're trying to impress a very dark person). James Van Der Beek plays a promiscuous and surprisingly sympathetic drug dealer who pays his way through exclusive Camden College with his "business." He finds himself in the middle of a hopeless love triangle. Sex, drugs, and thoroughly doomed love follows.
Pumpkin (2002). Also probably not a great choice for a first date. This movie isn't dark, but it's very strange (and very funny). Christina Ricci plays a (highly stereotypical) sorority girl who falls in love with a mentally challenged teen named Pumpkin (Hank Harris).
